Can you recognize the signs of financial exploitation? You may notice unusual bank account activity or mysterious credit card charges. Or maybe a victim has been coerced into changing or signing legal documents (such as a will or Power of Attorney) without understanding why.
June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Make a pledge to become better informed this month so that you can spot financial abuse, report it, and help others to avoid becoming victims. DeKalb County RSVP member Bobbi Butler, a former supervisor with Georgia’s Adult Protective Services, will present. Mark your calendar now and plan to participate. All are welcome!
This presentation counts as one hour of timesheet activity for RSVP volunteers, and it is recommended continuing education training for volunteers who present “Money Smart.”
